Who’s Keeping Your Home Safe? You And This Team!

We at Security Essentials make it our #1 priority to ensure your home is safe. Keeping you and your family safe is a big deal. We want to be Your TEAM and help you keep your family safe everyday. But sometimes it’s the little changes you make that add up to a big difference. We have collected some residential security tips to help every member of your family feel safe and secure.

Here Are Several Home Security Tips To Help You And Your Family Stay Safe Everyday

- Don’t post pictures of your vacation on social media until after you return home.
- Make sure to leave 2-3 lights on in the home to make others believe there is always someone in the home. These can be installed with timers so as to save electricity too.
- Turn down the volume of telephones and answering machines so burglars can not hear when there isn’t an answer indicating no one is home at the time.
- When traveling, always tell a trusted neighbor you are going out of town; and stop all newspaper and mail deliveries until you return home.
- Never leave notes on your door for service people or visitors when you are not home. It’s a signal to burglars that the home is empty.
- Yard signs are highly effective deterrents. Make sure to place your Security Essentials yard sign in a highly visible area near the front of your house. And place window stickers in as many windows as you like ! We are happy to give you extra stickers for your safety !
- Landscaping is also a very important deterrent. For example, thorny bushes (like rose bushes) are a very good way to keep burglars from trying to get close to your windows. Ensure that you do not make it easy for them to climb up to gain access into your home.
- If you live in a cold climate, make sure to clear all sidewalks and the driveway of snow so burglars can see that the home is occupied.
- During warm summer months, if you want the summer breeze blowing thru your screened windows, make sure to only have windows half opened to prevent easy access by unwanted burglars.
- Inspect your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors for dust and lint build up that can hinder the sensors inside. It is also recommended to have interconnected smoke alarms. These alarms are linked together and if one is triggered, they all go off.
